Record: EX Jacket: VG This is considered the masterpiece of Hermeto Pascoal, a blind Brazilian musician and musical genius, who recorded in the US in 1977 with Airto Moreira and Flora Purim as producers. It's a highly acclaimed album, incorporating Brazilian music and various other musical elements in a free-spirited, avant-garde style, yet it's a deeply moving work with unique and beautiful melodies scattered throughout. The brilliance of the rhythm section, supporting the complex rhythms with their superb performance, is also impressive. The album features a string of wonderful tracks that paint various expressions, including "Mixing Pot," a Brazilian fusion piece that creates a beautiful soundscape; "Slaves Mass," a spiritual track with a collage of pig sounds and a haunting scat performance; and "Little Cry For Him," which has a pleasant melody over a bouncy rhythm. It's a truly great album.
