Bagru-dyed block print fabric Indian cotton / 100% cotton Size: Approximately 110cm x 250cm This is a block print (a traditional Indian woodblock printing technique) fabric dyed with mineral dyes, purchased in Bagru village, Rajasthan, India. It is a precious cloth that artisans painstakingly dye by hand in the scorching desert heat of 50 degrees Celsius. This is a black dye called Bagru Black, which uses horsehoes. It is dyed using the ancient method of plant and mineral dyeing, which did not use chemical dyes. It is said that when dyeing techniques arrived in Nara, Japan via the Silk Road, black dyeing did not exist. It features interesting and simple geometric patterns, optical art. There is a brown trim on one side only. Please note that there may be occasional misprints, irregular patterns, and variations in color density, which are considered part of the charm of hand-printed fabrics. Also, please note that the edges are not perfectly straight. (The fabric will be shipped in the same condition as when purchased.) The color will fade considerably at first, so please be careful when washing. Hand washing is recommended for the first few washes.
