This is a Komainu (guardian lion-dog) from Ko-Seto. It comes from a collector who is currently job hunting. The pair of Komainu, one "a" and one "un," have Ko-Seto glaze on their bodies and ash glaze on their faces. They are inscribed with the year Keicho 14 (1609). Generally, the practice of writing the year began after the Momoyama period, and since the Keicho era falls in the early Edo period, this aligns with the historical record. Keicho is also a popular era name, so it seems to have all the right conditions as a collector's item. There are no noticeable cracks or chips.
