Kara Hana Socho Cho Hankin (Long Striped Brocade with Paired Birds and Tang Flowers) "Cho Han" refers to a textile ground with vertical stripes in two or more colors. When this color scheme is used in brocade, it's called "Cho Han Nishiki" (Long Striped Brocade). The original piece is a fragment from the Imperial Treasure Repository (Shosoin) used on a cushion. This work is a reinterpretation with a new composition, incorporating gold and silver threads, and woven using the warp-faced brocade technique.
