This is a long scissor made of hard stainless steel, marked with "Yūshun" (a Japanese word often associated with thoroughbred horses). There are some minor scratches due to aging, but the frequency of use seems relatively low, and the blades appear to have plenty of volume remaining. The feel and sharpness are excellent. For reference, it cuts tissue very sharply and cleanly without snagging. I had it sharpened just in case, so you should be able to use it immediately, but if you are particular about the sharpness, please sharpen and adjust it yourself before use.
