This is a custom-made mandolin from the long-established Watanabe Mandolin workshop in Higashi-Kojiya, Tokyo. It is said to be a brand recognized by Masao Koga, a mandolin player and a great composer of Showa-era popular songs. The "200" refers to the model number, and the price is estimated to be around 300,000 yen. Despite being a medium-grade model, it has a small body and is luxuriously made with plenty of high-quality wood. Regarding the sound: It has a high-class sound centered around a thick ebony fingerboard and high-quality maple. It produces a sweet, clear sound that perfectly matches the expression of Watanabe Mandolin's characteristic "singing sound." The body is carved very shallowly to enhance the sound, comparable to higher-end models. Regarding the condition: There are some dents near the neck joint and scratches due to the extremely thin paint, but considering the manufacturing year, it seems to be in good condition. The fingerboard is slightly worn, and the edges of the frets feel a bit rough, but there is almost no fret wear, suggesting that the instrument has been regularly maintained. The string height is approximately 1mm at the 1st fret and 2.5mm at the 12th fret. The tension is loose, and it has a well-balanced, gentle, and sweet tone, making it very easy to play.
