The color is black, and although I bought it for job hunting, I stored it without ever using it. There are no noticeable scratches. There is additional storage with buttons on both sides of the zipper. Also, inside the zipper, there is a zippered pocket on one side and pockets for a handkerchief and a pen (without a zipper) on the other side, which is convenient for organizing small items.
