It seems that they performed together until 2020, and the fact that a sequel was not recorded may have been partly due to Angelich's poor health. This work was recorded with a strong determination, so I was imagining a sharp performance with a lot of tension, but I was surprised when I listened to it. Akiko Suwanai is not at all prominent. The sharpness of her technique and sense, which were remarkable in her mid-20s works, as if saying "I am the main character!", are well-contained, and she seems to be enjoying the performance with the piano. Rather, I was surprised by the sound that conveyed that the piano was the main character and her role was to support the piano. Technically, it is impeccable, and the expression is different from the image of Beethoven's violin sonatas up to now. The breath with Nicholas Angelich's piano is also perfect. It was a tense performance that made me listen intently. As a piano enthusiast, I don't like the sound of the violin (for example, Kremer), but Suwanai's tone has a very rich range, and it was okay for me. I think it's a performance that anyone can enjoy, from classical music beginners to enthusiasts.
