An acquaintance of mine, who is an upper-class citizen, used to run a tea room. This item was recommended by the tea room teacher and purchased at Takasaki Takashimaya, and it wasn't cheap. The camellia paintings are hand-painted one by one, so each one is unique. It has a textured surface that prevents slipping, with a special washi paper-like pattern. It seems to be auspicious. It's a testament to the craftsmanship of the Japanese, designed to make the green of Japanese tea stand out. It's a beautiful and simple item. In recent times, there are many items with printed firing using the Saint-Porcelain technique, but hand-painted items, such as those from Okura Art China, are also available, and they are expensive and wonderful due to the special techniques used, including those from Germany.
