Holding it, one feels the warmth of the earth, along with the quiet breath of over four hundred years. It is a masterpiece that still eloquently speaks of the essence of "wabi" in the tea ceremony. It has been repaired with kintsugi (gold joinery). "Omi Daikansho" refers to one of the magistrate's offices (daikansho) established in Omi Province (present-day Shiga Prefecture) during the Edo period to manage the shogunate's directly controlled territories (tenryo).
