In a solitary cell, an elderly man serving a life sentence, Akutsu, is about to meet a lonely death when a balsam, which speaks human words, calls out to him. In conversation with the balsam, Akutsu recalls his past. In 1987, summer. Akutsu, a yakuza, begins living in an apartment with Nana, six years his junior, and her son Kensuke, thanks to the care of his older brother, Tsutsumi. Akutsu spends happy days, but one day, he suddenly has to prepare a large sum of money, and with Tsutsumi, he plans to steal 300 million yen from the group's safe.
