This item appears to be used in formal settings due to its luxurious feel, created by layering two sheets of platinum foil to give the design a three-dimensional effect. I received this item about 40 years ago and have kept it in storage, unused. There was an obi (sash) made with Nishijin-ori (Nishijin weaving) and platinum foil. Especially the double weave requires more advanced techniques and is considered to be of high value. The obi itself doesn't state that it's Nishijin-ori, so as a novice, I'm not entirely sure. Please refrain from purchasing if you have any concerns.
