The Auto Dater was Citizen's first full-fledged men's automatic watch, appearing in 1961 as an automatic-only collection. It was a rival to SEIKO's Gyro Marvel, and was developed with the goal of being the thinnest automatic watch made in Japan, as market needs shifted towards thinner designs. It features the "Jet Rotor," an outer-ring ball bearing rotor function, and the sound of the rotor spinning when the watch is shaken was said to resemble a jet engine, which was popular at the time. This is a particularly rare "555" C.G.P. case model. This is a masterpiece of a Japanese-made wristwatch, packed with the charm of vintage watches. ●There are scratches on the crystal. The dial, hands, and indexes are in beautiful condition for an antique watch of this era. The case shows signs of aging, but there is no major damage such as dents, and the engraving on the back cover remains clear. Please check the photos. The leather strap is an aftermarket product.
