In the late 18th century, it adopted the Louis XV style and also produced pottery for Marie Antoinette's Trianon. It was acquired and merged with Badonviller in 1922, and further merged with Sarreguemines in 1979. The Saint-Clément factory ceased production in 1999, closing its long history. It is famous for "barbotine," which expresses patterns of plants and animals with embossed decorations. These items are hand-painted Peint à la main is written on the back. The coloring and the shape of the trees in the background differ from plate to plate. (One plate has a red boot!) There are no cracks or chips. There are chips on two plates, one in each. Please check the photos. There are small scratches from cutlery, kiln marks, variations in ink density, glaze imperfections, marks from peeling off during firing, and clay residue.
