With "Hyakunin Isshu" (a collection of one hundred Japanese poems by one hundred poets) as the keyword, the story unfolds in Osaka and Kyoto, and features Heiji Hattori, the "detective from the west." Along with Conan Edogawa (Shinichi Kudo), the detectives from the east and west come together. One day, an explosion occurs at the Nichiuri TV station in Osaka. The Satsuki Cup, hosted by the "Satsuki-kai," which leads the Japanese Hyakunin Isshu world, was being recorded inside the station, and the scene is thrown into panic. Heiji Hattori, the detective from the west, who was present, is trapped inside the collapsing building, but is saved at the last moment by Conan, who rushes to the scene. Conan and Heiji feel something is amiss about the explosion, which seems like an act of terrorism but has no claim of responsibility. Amidst the chaos, Conan meets a woman who claims to be Heiji's fiancée.
