During the Edo period, Chin dogs were kept indoors wearing collars and chest ornaments. The chest ornaments, resembling aprons, made them look like they were wearing a feathered robe, leading to the name "Hagoromo Chin" (Feathered Robe Chin). This is a very cute piece with its droopy eyes. - It still looks pretty good at first glance, but it's an old item, so it's being sold with some scratches and stains.
