It has a fantastic USA vibe. The size is a rare S. Since it's a US size, it would likely fit like a slightly smaller M in Japan. It's a great size for men and women to wear stylishly. I received this new from an acquaintance who lived in NY in the 80s, and I wore it. I believe it's almost certainly a Starter, made in the USA, from the 1980s. In my amateur opinion, there doesn't seem to be any stretching or sagging in the sleeves, neck, or waistband ribbing. As it is vintage, there is some wear on the buttons and pilling on the lining of the ribbing [the part that touches the waist].
