The name "Kikusui Boko" comes from the well, Kikusui-i, which was in the town during the Muromachi period. It was destroyed by fire in 1864 at the end of the Edo period, but was revived in 1953 (Showa 28). The top of the spear has a gold, openwork sixteen-petal chrysanthemum. Kikumaro, a child doll in a Noh costume, represents the Makura Jido (pillow child) from a Noh song, who drank the dew of the chrysanthemum and lived to be 700 years old.
