When you press on the edge of the plate, the opposite side lifts up slightly. I have many snack sets, and they are all in a similar condition, so I think it's just a characteristic of the item. I inspect the items carefully, but please forgive any oversights as I am an amateur. Vintage and antique items often have small black spots, paint loss, small bumps, and crazing from the time of manufacture. Please understand that these are old items made with different manufacturing methods than today. I also have other Sherry items for sale.
