This is a custom-made version of the "PG5-AD," a masterpiece that has been a favorite drafting mechanical pencil for many years, featuring a wooden barrel. It is characterized by a seamless, beautiful form that tapers towards the pen tip. The wood species is the blue and white burl of the Karin (Chinese quince) tree. The blue color of the Karin is caused by a phenomenon called spalting, which occurs when the sapwood of the Karin tree becomes infected with fungi and turns black. The beautiful white parts and the two-tone color of the spalting, resembling ink, offer a calm beauty. It's like a beautiful ink wash painting. The PG5 has been a long seller for over 50 years, and its light writing feel and fatigue resistance are supported by many people. In Takamura Moku Koubou's wooden barrel customization, while maintaining the original charm, the warmth and texture unique to wood are added. Designed to not compromise the slim silhouette of the PG5, metal parts are used to a minimum. By utilizing genuine parts, the finished weight is kept to approximately 12-14g. The center of gravity is adjusted to gather at the grip position, naturally fitting the fingers and providing a light writing feel that lasts. The wooden barrel part can be removed and replaced. Penetrating inorganic glass coating is used for the surface finish. Because it penetrates the wood and adheres to the glass, it exhibits high hardness, water resistance, and stain resistance, and can be used for a long time without maintenance.
