In 1969 (Showa 44), he apprenticed under his father, Kikichi Oikawa, an outstanding craftsman in Iwate Prefecture, and succeeded the family business of manufacturing Nanbu iron kettles, dedicating himself to iron kettle production. As the chairman of the Iron Kettle Division, he excels in the lightweighting of Nanbu iron kettles, rust prevention methods, and coloring techniques. He has worked to improve the quality of Nanbu iron kettles and has contributed to the spread of iron kettles in China. Since 2012 (Heisei 24), he has been active as an instructor for the Nanbu Iron Kettle Traditional Craft Succession Project, training two successors. Achievements: Awarded the Newcomer's Award at the 20th Mizusawa Casting Creation Exhibition in 1978 (Showa 53).
