This is a large lacquerware bowl with a beautiful, subdued vermilion color close to chestnut, and thick gold maki-e (sprinkled picture) of persimmons. Mother-of-pearl inlay is applied to the persimmon leaves in places that look like they have been eaten by insects. This is an antique from before the war (it was found in an old wooden box from the storehouse, wrapped in the paper in photos 14 and 15) and is a sturdy piece of solid wood that has remained beautiful from the old days until now. There are no signs of warping. One bowl has a few small scratches (photo 12). There are no other cracks. This price is for two bowls, but there are a total of six bowls in stock.
