I found this at my parents' house. It's a Wajima-nuri (Wajima lacquerware) suzuri-bako (writing box) made by Hiroi, crafted from natural wood with a lacquer finish and gold maki-e (sprinkled picture). The elegant design of pine, bamboo, and plum blossoms on a fan, depicted in jet black, gives it a very refined and impressive presence.
