This is a gift I received when I visited Nishi Hongan-ji Temple in Kyoto. The prayer bead bag features a floral pattern and the "Kujo Kudari Fuji" (Descending Wisteria of the Kujo family), the crest of the Honganji sect. The Kujo wisteria crest depicts the stem of the "Kudari Fuji" (Descending Wisteria). Wisteria is considered an auspicious plant due to its long lifespan and strong reproductive ability, and it is mentioned numerous times in the "Manyoshu" (Collection of Ten Thousand Leaves).
