This item belonged to my grandmother, a true Kyoto native who was born and raised on Nishiki Street in Kyoto. It has some minor damage, so I believe it's a Kyoto item dating from the Meiji to Taisho eras. It's 63 cm long, 10 cm wide, and 1 cm thick. I believe it's made of paulownia wood, but I'm not certain. When I was still in elementary school (1970s), my mother selected my grandmother's work and displayed it in the Japanese-style room. I've included a photo of that work as an example of its use, but please let me know if you don't need it.
