On September 29, 1979, the passenger terminal and related facilities of Capital International Airport were completed, and a completion ceremony was held. The airport is located in the eastern suburbs of Beijing, with a building area of approximately 200,000 square meters. Modern facilities such as long escalators, satellite halls, and boarding bridges are provided in the passenger terminal to provide convenience to users. On June 20, 1980, the Ministry of Posts and Telecommunications of the People's Republic of China issued this commemorative stamp to reflect the new appearance of China's air transport business. Stamp 1 (left) design name: "Airport Building." The design is the passenger terminal building of Capital International Airport. The screen captures the entire passenger terminal from a bird's-eye view and is drawn in a slightly three-dimensional manner. An airplane is drawn above the terminal, evoking the image of aviation. The background transitions faintly from green at the bottom to blue at the top, expressing the expanse from the ground to the sky. This emphasizes the grand scale of the terminal and the feeling of the airplane soaring. Stamp 2 (right) design name: "Airplane Runway." The design is a night view of the runway at Capital International Airport. The screen depicts the night runway from the perspective of an airplane during landing, symbolically placing a silver airplane to represent night flight. The background color changes from dark red at the bottom to brown and burnt umber upwards, showing the distant night sky and the lights of the guidance lights, emphasizing the length and safety of the runway. This is a popular stamp series among collectors of aviation stamps and modern Chinese airport-related items. However, stamps with airplane designs are not necessarily aviation stamps. They can be used for airmail postage, but they are both special stamps and not aviation stamps.
