They are excellent for day hikes and non-snowy season trekking, offering flexibility, lightness, and great walkability. They feature a split leather with a coating, and cushioning pads around the opening to reduce pressure on the foot. I bought these new last spring and used them for a traverse of the Northern Alps in July. I loved the cool look and comfortable fit, but they feel a bit small, so I'm replacing them. As shown in photo 5, the label on the right insole has come off, but this doesn't affect use. They are suitable for women with wider feet.
