Released in 1935. This is Leica's first 200mm telephoto lens, designed for the Visoflex Ⅰ system of the Barnack Leica era. I read somewhere that the name Telyt is a portmanteau of "tele" and "elite," and it has been used for telephoto lenses ever since. The appeal of this lens is, above all, its image quality that comes from its era. However, unlike what you might imagine from the 1930s, its sharp and detailed depiction is impressive. The jewelry-like body, similar to the Thambar, is also a characteristic. I have prepared sample images using this lens. I wonder if this lens doesn't render colors as well as any other Leica lens. Despite being the first full-fledged telephoto lens, it achieves central resolution that depicts spider threads. It's characterized by significant flare in backlight, and its soft, nearly circular bokeh is also attractive. I think it's just barely suitable for birds in terms of distance, and it's a sufficient distance for taking pictures of people. The aging of the exterior is quite advanced, and the brass is visible, which is irresistible. There are no noticeable dents, so I think it's a lens that has been used practically for many years. There is slight clouding on the front and rear elements, making it prone to flare. I don't think many people would buy this model without intending to utilize this characteristic in their sample images. Isn't this distinctive depiction the value of an old telephoto lens?
