These are five teacups finished with layers of lacquer, resulting in a deep, translucent black. The deep luster of the black lacquer is beautiful, and the subtle crimson bleeding at the edges exudes a solemn Japanese elegance. I purchased two sets for formal guests. Although purchased approximately 30 years ago, these are unused and have been beautifully preserved. The gentle warmth and tranquility of the lacquer reside in your hand as you hold the teacups. The rounded, soft curves fit comfortably in the hand and are perfect for elegant teacups. Finished with high-quality lacquer for a luxurious feel. The balance of wabi-sabi and gloss is excellent. These teacups give a sense of order to the surroundings. They have a calm and refined presence. I've paired them with Yuriko Matsuda's gold-painted teacups. The slightly formal feeling is wonderful, making you sit up straight. Please note that the teacups are not included.
