Thank you for viewing. This item was made from fabric that was originally a large fishing flag, likely used at a fishing site. I purchased the flag and dyed it with persimmon tannin and iron mordant at home. The colorful and large patterns of the fishing flag take on a subdued, tasteful color when dyed. The persimmon tannin dyeing process turns the colors into a brownish hue, and the iron mordant further adds a gray cast. A thin, fabric fusible interfacing is applied to the outer fabric. A medium-weight fabric fusible interfacing is also applied to the brim, both on the front and back, but it is softer compared to commercially made products. An adjustable belt is attached at the back. The lining uses a slightly thick cotton-like (material unknown) fabric. Size: Inner circumference 56-59.5cm Side crown approx. 17cm Brim (center) approx. 7.5cm Measurements are approximate and taken by a layman with a measuring tape.
