These are items from my grandmother's shop, which she ran at Naritasan, after the shop was closed. These are milky white glass prayer beads with purple tassels. They are 8 sun (a unit of measurement, approximately 2.4 cm) in size. In Buddhism, *hari* (glass) refers to crystal, one of the seven treasures. However, in ancient times, it referred to a transparent, shining jewel, and was also used as a different name for glass as we know it today. In ancient times, glass was considered to be more valuable than gemstones like crystal, and even today, there are people who prefer to have prayer beads made of glass.
