Traditional Craftsman. Eldest son of Rakusai Takahashi III. He succeeded his father and created Shigaraki-yaki works. He succeeded the fourth generation upon his father's death in 1976. He was active, holding solo exhibitions in Los Angeles. The signature uses the hiragana "ra" (ら), unlike his father, Rakusai III, who mainly used the kanji "楽斎," making it easier to distinguish his works from those of other generations of artists.
