This is a bronze Taoist statue from China, representing the pursuit of immortality. Taoism is a religion native to China, founded by Lao Tzu. Originally, Taoism did not have idols for worship, but from the Northern Wei dynasty onwards, Taoist statues began to be created, influenced by foreign religions (Buddhism). This item is an extremely rare statue of a Taoist priest from the Ming dynasty, wearing an ancient crown on his head and a daopao, one of the ancient Hanfu robes.
