These are two oval medium bowls with a green celadon glaze and crackle pattern. The marks of the potter's wheel and the hand-carved rim give a warm feeling. The green glaze also has a simple and gentle feel. Carrots and snow peas in a nikujaga (meat and potato stew) look delicious in them. They also look great with dark-colored dishes like motsu-nikomi (offal stew). Also good for salads. The color combination with the red of tomatoes is perfect. Because of the crackle pattern, liquids will seep in, and the color will change with use, adding depth of flavor. If you are concerned about the color seeping in, you can rinse them in water or hot water each time before use to reduce the staining. Soaking them in a dish detergent bleach occasionally will remove the color. As these are earthenware with a crackle pattern, washing them in a dishwasher will make it easier for stains to seep in. Hand washing is recommended.
