Everything, from the kimono to the face, the swelling of the fingers, the planting of the hair, and the expression, is handmade. It was kept at home in a large custom-made wooden and glass case along with several other Japanese and French dolls. It was never taken out of the case for many years, never displayed in a prominent place, and was stored in the case away from sunlight. Due to aging, there is considerable dirt and damage to the fabric, including the face, from dust that entered through the gaps in the case. It is, in any case, old and faded.
