Alfred Knoll Workshop Germany Round Bow Alfred Knoll Workshop, Germany Established in Germany in 1932, the workshop has been crafting violin bows for three generations. Alfred is the third generation, and each bow is handmade using carefully selected pernambuco wood. The bow provides a feeling of adhering to the instrument while playing. It is ideal for stepping up from beginner bows. The sound is powerful, but the core of the sound is strong, with depth on the G string and a brilliant sound on the E string. This is a difference from domestic manufacturers such as Sugito and Archet. The response at the time of sound production is fast and easy to handle. Inexpensive bows often use square bows, which are easier for the maker to process, but this is a well-finished round bow. The inlay on the back of the frog (hair box) is made of high-quality mother-of-pearl (MOP) inlay, conveying that the work has been carefully crafted at a cost.
