Thank you for viewing. In 1934, during his fifth year of junior high school, he made his third appearance at Koshien with Kyoto Commercial High School, leaving a brilliant record. He participated in the 1934 Japan-America Baseball series along with teenage star Victor Starffin. After two trips to the United States (where he was known as "Schoolboy Sawamura"), he excelled. He then dropped out of Kyoto Commercial High School and joined the Greater Japan Tokyo Baseball Club (now the Yomiuri Giants) in 1937, where he achieved the first championship, the first MVP, and three no-hitters. However, after being drafted into the military, he injured his shoulder and left the team. He was killed in action during his second deployment. There were no menko (card-like game pieces) from the pre-war era. Currently, only one menko exists, featured in the "Star of the Giants" series by Noboru Kawasaki.
