His soft, smooth tone and varied expression also beautifully reflect the lyricism of the Nordic region. His rare beauty of tone, sweet and lustrous sound, and refinement, along with his inner maturity, are wonderfully realized in these performances. Fauré's sonatas are Grumiaux's masterpieces of French works. They match Grumiaux's beautiful tone. His fresh, beautiful tone and inspired sensitivity are fully demonstrated. Having Crossley as an accompanist was also a great advantage. Like Grumiaux, he is full of sensitivity and also enhances the violin. The Grieg with Sebők is also beautifully sung, although it lacks ethnic color. The recordings are excellent for all three pieces. Fauré's Violin Sonata No. 1 is famous and the most frequently performed work among his entire works, but the late No. 2 is also a masterpiece, though somewhat subdued. Grumiaux and Crossley develop music full of wonderful tension within a fast tempo. The Grieg with György Sebők is also a slender and refreshing performance. It is a natural and relaxed performance that can be recommended to anyone.
