I purchased this about three years ago. There are no noticeable stains or scratches, but the second button is missing, as shown in the third photo. There is a button on the arm as shown in the fourth photo, so I think you can use that (please make your own judgment). I have a rabbit, so please refrain from purchasing if you are overly concerned about cleanliness.
