I made a clasp bag (handle bag/shoulder bag) using the fabric of Oshima Tsumugi Tatsugo Akina Bara 8 balls (Toki Kimono). With a calm, black base, the "Sanbara" pattern is very beautiful, resulting in a cute, rounded bag. The pattern placement is prioritized in the cutting. It has a five-layer construction for stability and can be used with both Japanese and Western clothing. The outer fabric has two layers of hard interfacing and is sewn with hard quilt batting, so it is sturdy and lightweight without gaping open. The lining also uses Oshima Tsumugi purple striped fabric, with hard interfacing applied, and has three pockets. A bottom plate is also inserted between the outer and lining fabrics, stabilizing the contents. The clasp and fabric are sewn together with thick thread (size 20) using two strands and backstitching, so they won't come apart. The back side is also carefully done so that the thread is not visible.
