I purchased this approximately 20 years ago from an antique shop in France. Although purchased in France, it is a very old, metal antique post slot/letterbox from England. It was produced in 1981, and indeed, there is a patent registration stamp on the back. It is a very old and chic letter slot, and it is difficult to obtain even in England. It has a beautiful design, though it is shabby from aging over a long period of time. Those who are renovating, if they are professionals, could likely install it beautifully. It has a great atmosphere as an antique, so it would look wonderful displayed anywhere as is. The condition is as it was when purchased. It has rust and other signs of wear as shown in the photos on the back, from approximately 140 years of age, but it is quite shabby and lovely. Although it is old, it can still be put to good use depending on your ideas, and it looks chic when displayed with other antiques.
