This is a truly vintage carabiner. This carabiner is from the era of the Ichinokurasawa area of Mt. Tanigawa, which is listed in the Guinness Book of World Records as the mountain with the most fatalities, and the imposing face of the Tachitsuri Rock (see photo). In 1959, Hiroto Minami was the first to successfully climb this rock face, which was considered unclimbable at the time. Mr. Minami opened a mountaineering equipment store called "Shibuya Minami" in the spring of 1962, later changing the store's name to "Sanyo Sports." He developed many mountaineering equipment items such as climbing boots, backpacks, and carabiners. Incidentally, the boots used by Junko Tabei when she became the first woman to summit Mount Everest were made by "Sanyo Sports." This is a carabiner made by "Sanyo Sports."
