Kendo bamboo dou (body) with 43 staves, finished with aogai (mother-of-pearl) lacquer. This is a refurbished used dou, re-lacquered. The aogai is applied generously, using about three times the amount of shell as commercially available aogai-lacquered dou. This is a luxurious application using various sizes of shell. Because we are not using intermediaries like retail stores, we can offer this price, even though it uses more shell than a new, commercially available dou. The size should be suitable for most adult men. The photos taken from the front don't fully capture the blue tones due to the lighting, but the side views show the color better, so please take a look. The chest protector will be the one that originally came with the dou.
