This is a soup bowl I purchased at an antique market. I liked the auspicious composition and brought it home with me. Two cranes are gracefully flapping their wings in the sky. Below, a turtle in flowing water. The moderate swelling of the maki-e is nice. A landscape painting is featured as a single point on the body of the bowl. The era is said to be from Meiji to Taisho. Perfect for soup bowls at celebratory occasions, or for a little everyday luxury. There are chips on the foot of each bowl. They do not interfere with use. As it is an old wooden product, there is some warping. Please use it by turning the lid to find the point where it fits snugly. Also, please take a good look at the images.
