Only rinsed with water. The inside is a soft fleece material. It's labeled as free size, but it feels large. The foot area can be configured with buttons to be two-legged, or to wrap around. I think it's very convenient for going out in winter. The hands and feet can be wrapped up and covered, so I think it will be warm.
