Wajima-nuri Urushikodo Kinji (Gold Ground) E-kawari Maki-e Nimono-wan (Stewed Dish Bowls), set of 5. Extremely beautiful condition, long-term storage item. Natural wood, Urushi lacquer (see image 18 at the bottom). Nimono-wan from Nakashitsu Urushikodo, the predecessor of Wajimaya Zenjin. Due to long-term storage, there were stains on the outside that wouldn't come off, and since it's a gold ground, I had Wajimaya Zenjin remove the stains before listing. The process involved polishing the outer "ro" (black lacquer) part of all 5 bowls, including the lids, to remove the stains, and then re-applying the "ro" finish. Therefore, the outside is like new. The inside was originally in a shiny and beautiful condition, so it was left as is. There is no discoloration. According to a Zenjin sales representative, this shape with a gold ground is a high-end item. Furthermore, with the current rise in gold prices, it's impossible to make them in stock unless it's a special order due to budget constraints. The maki-e (sprinkled picture) designs are a variety of pictures: cherry blossoms, maple leaves, flowers, bamboo grass, and wheat ears. Suitable for zoni-wan (New Year's soup bowls) in a general household. The vermilion-lacquered Suimono-wan (clear soup bowls) in image 14 are for size comparison and are not included. The original box has some discoloration and minor scratches. The yellow and blue cloth has some stains.
