This is a kama (tea kettle) made by the traditional craftsman, a member of the Japan Traditional Craft Association, ※ whose real name is Mr. Masamitsu Kikuchi. It is believed to be a very valuable item as it is no longer produced. This is one of the tea utensils (tea kettle) that my mother purchased decades ago as a hobby. It appears to have been opened, but it seems it was only looked at and never actually used. It has been handled with care and stored with care, so it is in beautiful condition. Even I, a novice with no knowledge of the tea ceremony, can see that it is a tea ceremony kama (tea kettle) with a simple and beautiful design (in the shape of a Natsume). The kamakan (handle) is in a separate cloth, and the tea kettle itself is wrapped in cloth and cushioning material and stored in a paulownia box. Inside, there was a slightly white area near the bottom, so I investigated and found that this was originally due to the rust prevention treatment... There was a theory.
