This is a "Pigeon Bonbon Box," a small pigeon-shaped container from the "Pigeon Series" of "Peasant Art," a wood carving craft famous in Shinshu. It is made using white birch and is a work by Toshiyuki Haruhara, who continues to uphold the tradition. This craft dates back to the Taisho era and remains popular both domestically and internationally. The texture and grain of the wood are rich, and the design is charming, with the lid handle shaped like a pigeon's tail. It can be used as a small container and displayed as interior decor. Purchased from "Takei Kogei Shop," which handles "Shinshu's Handmade Crafts" at Zenkoji Temple's Daimon Gate (with a sticker on the back/photo). It is in good, clean condition, but there are some minor scratches from being displayed, hence the price.
