It is said to represent the virtue of benefiting sentient beings. Also known as Peacock Buddha Mother, Peacock Queen Mother Bodhisattva, and Golden Peacock King. Unlike other Myoo, who are characterized by their wrathful appearance, Kujaku Myoo is the only one with a compassionate Bodhisattva form. Often depicted riding a peacock, with one face and four arms. Each of the four hands holds a Kurenka fruit, a Jikisho fruit, a lotus flower, and a peacock tail. Because peacocks eat poisonous snakes like cobras and insects, Kujaku Myoo is believed to have the virtue of "removing people's disasters and pains," and became an object of faith. In later years, the interpretation that Kujaku Myoo eats creatures with poison = the three poisons (greed, anger, and ignorance), which are symbols of human earthly desires, and has the virtue of achieving Buddhahood by consuming them, became common. Because it devours evil, many sects chant the mantra of Kujaku Myoo in exorcism rituals during large Goma fire rituals.
