Wake Shrine is a shrine located in Wake Town, Wake District, Okayama Prefecture. Known as the family shrine of the Wake clan, the shrine is located in the birthplace of Wake no Kiyomaro, the founder of the Wake clan. It is said to have originated from the worship of Nudeshinowake no Mikoto, a distant ancestor, as the clan's deity. Although the exact founding year is unknown, it is believed to date back to the Nara period. This offering is a set of two items: a holographic Year of the Horse goshuin (shrine stamp) and a history booklet. The date is for New Year's Day, Reiwa 8 (2026). Wake Shrine is considered a sacred site for "Demon Slayer." The reason it became a sacred site is because Wake Shrine enshrines Wake no Kiyomaro, who was protected by thunder and wild boars when he was exiled to Kyushu and nearly killed by Dokyo. The komainu (guardian lion-dogs) at Wake Shrine are boar statues, and there is a dance featuring boar masks. Speaking of boar masks, it brings to mind Inosuke Hashibira from "Demon Slayer." In addition, there is a wisteria park next door that boasts the largest variety of wisteria in Japan, and in "Demon Slayer," wisteria is a key item that keeps demons away. The "Mount Natagumo" appears in the anime, and wisteria family crests and scent bags play important roles.
